We’ve Had Our Last Salon

Posted in Uncategorized on March 25, 2013 by ngrboston

Naked Girls Reading Boston was the local chapter of Naked Girls Reading. We existed from January 2010 until March 2013 when Naked Girls Reading Headquarters decided not to renew our license.

If you think Boston should have a chapter of Naked Girls Reading, please write to the new managers, Elly & A.J., at nakedgirlsreading@gmail.com and show your support.

This blog is now closed, but you can still read about our previous salons, press appearances, and find a list of all the books we read.

We’d like to thank all our readers: Betty Blaize, Bride Alton, Cameryn Moore, Dalya du Sunshine, Devora Darling, Dr. Vicka, Fonda Feeling, Ivy Bowers, Jena Kitten, Jocelyn Cherry, Karina Valkyre, Lady Grey, Legs Malone, Lizzie Havoc, Mimi Mischief, Miss Mina, Mrs X Penumbra, Nasty Canasta, Scarlett Letter, St. Stella, Vikki Likkerish, and Vita Lightly.

We all loved getting naked and reading to you!

Casting for February 25

Posted in Uncategorized on February 16, 2012 by ngrboston

Ahoy there!

We’re looking for one more reader to join Naked Girls, Mina Murray, Betty Blaize, and Jena Kitten on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 8:00 p.m. The theme is Literary Boston — writings by inhabitants or natives of Boston, or writings about Boston. Interested in joining us? Read on!

The N.G.R. F.A.Q.

Do I have to be naked?
Yes. Many readers wear accessories — jewelry, stockings, improbably shoes, hats, hair flowers, and even elf ears, — but you need to be essentially naked.

Do I have to be a girl?
Yes. That’s the word from the home office in Chicago. We currently define “girl” as “exhibiting the primary and secondary physical sexual characteristics of an adult biological female”, so post-op transsexuals and those who were born biologically female are welcome to audition to read.

Do I have to read?
Yes. NGR is at least as much about the reading as it is about the naked girls. You need to be able to read in a clear, pleasing voice. You don’t need to be a trained actress or singer, just comfortable reading aloud in front of an audience.

Do I have to be a certain age?
Yes. You must be at least 18 years old.

Do I have to look a certain way?
Absolutely not. We accept readers of all sizes, shapes, races, and colors. We accept readers with tattoos, piercings, brandings, scarification, freckles, and birthmarks.

Do I get paid?
Yup. Usually the same night. Usually $50.00

Can my friends come?
Your friends are welcome to buy tickets, but we only have 30 seats to sell, so we don’t offer complimentary tickets most of the time.

Where does this happen?
The salon on Saturday, Feb. 25 will take place at B.A.B.E., The Boston Academy of Burlesque Education, 119 Braintree St., Allston, MA. It’s about 10 minutes from the nearest T stop (Harvard St. on the Green line) and there are also two large, free parking lots.

O.K. I want to audition!
Fabulous! Please send a little something about yourself (any relevant experience or training) and a picture of yourself (preferably nude or semi-nude) to NGRboston@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you within 24 hours.

Here’s to good old Boston
The land of the bean and the cod
Where Lowells talk only to Cabots
and Cabots talk only to God

Boston has inspired much good writing (and writers) in its long history. Join The Naked Girls as they explore the literature of “The Hub of The Universe” from Edgar Allan Poe (born in Boston in 1809) to Dennis Lehane (a Dot rat since 1965) with a stop at “Good Will Hunting” in between.

The salon will be held at the Boston Academy of Burlesque Education, 119 Braintree St., Allston, MA. at 8pm

Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 day of the show. Admission limited to 30 seats.

Call (800) 838-3006 or visit http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/221496 for tickets.

Not Quite Sold Out…

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on December 16, 2011 by ngrboston

All advance tickets for Naked Girls Reading: A Christmas Carol have been sold. That said, this is our first time using Outpost 186 and we think we will be able to add some extra seats. We’re not sure how many, but we’re hoping for at least 10 and maybe as many as 20.

What do you do if you want one of those tickets? Show up at Oupost 186 at about 7:50 p.m. with $30 in cash for each ticket you’d like. Please do not show up earlier than that. Please do not bring a credit card. Please do not call or email and ask us to hold a ticket for you.

Outpost 186 is located 186-1/2 Hampshire St. (Rear), Cambridge, MA. We’ll see you Saturday night!

Naked Girls Reading: A Christmas Carol

Posted in Uncategorized on November 22, 2011 by ngrboston

On December 17th NGR Boston takes over the intimate confines of Outpost 186 for an evening of holiday cheer with a reading of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol.

Doors open at 8:00 p.m. for a pre-reading reception, and the reading begins at 8:30 p.m. The reading is about two hours long and there will be two breaks.

There are only 35 tickets, so we recommend you get them in advance (and you’ll save some cash too!).

Fang Fiction, May 21st

Posted in Uncategorized on May 12, 2011 by ngrboston

Saturday, May 21 @ midnight
“Fang Fiction” at Coolidge @fter Midnite

It’s Midnight. The witching hour. Now the veil between life and death is thinnest. Now is when the children of the night rise and restless spirits roam the streets, thirsting for blood and preying on innocents.

Scary, huh? But kind of sexy too… Boston’s own Creatures of the Naked Night will walk (or sit) among the living on May 21st as Naked Girls Reading presents “Fang Fiction” – a naughty little celebration of vampires, ghoulies, ghosties, long-legged beasties, and things that go bump-n-grind in the night. Advanced tickets are strongly recommended.

Readers will include your hostess Miss Mina, the cuddly Jena Kitten, the delicious Vikki Likkerish, and new Naked Girl Bar Havoc!

Tickets: $10 advance, $15 day of show.
